About The Theory of Constraints (ToC)

The Theory of Constraints (ToC) is a philosophy that helps managers to improve the performance of their businesses by focusing on its fundamental bottlenecks, its constraints. The underlying principle behind ToC is that there is an inherent simplicity in even the most apparently complex systems, which means that there are a small number of constraints that completely govern the system as a whole. ToC provides the analytical tools to identify these constraints, and a methodology to manage them in such a way as to improve dramatically overall business performance.

ToC originated from the analysis of operations in manufacturing industry. Since its inception the field of applicability of ToC has been enlarged, and today business activities such as distribution and supply chain management, sales and marketing, project management and corporate strategy have benefited significantly from the application of its techniques.

Dr Eliyahu Goldratt has developed the Theory of Constraints over the last 25 years. Dr Goldratt is the author of the business novel ‘The Goal’ which has introduced ToC to millions worldwide.

Concise Management implements ToC applications (Critical Chain, Drum-Buffer-Rope, Replenishment ….) to transform the performance of its clients’ businesses.
